Titan XL
Titan XL uses light energy to heat the dermis deep beneath your skin’s surface, promoting skin tightening for a non-surgical lift. The procedure can be applied to the face, neck, upper arms, abdomens, or other “trouble areas”. Titan is an ideal natural solution to sagging or loose skin — without surgery, recovery time, or injections.
How does the Cutera Titan work?
Titan utilizes a safe infrared light to heat the dermis well below the skin’s surface. During the procedure, the skin’s top surface (epidermis) is protected through continuous cooling with the Titan’s handpiece. Titan’s light-based platform provides a more uniform distribution of energy for heating the deep dermis than other energy sources, such as RF (radio- frequency). Patients have been successfully treated on many areas on the body where skin is lax. Loose skin on the abdomen, back of the upper arm, along the jaw line and under the chin have responded particularly well to the procedure. The face is the most commonly treated area, especially for improvement of the jaw line and neck laxity.
Titan procedure heats tissue under the skin’s surface, patients of any skin type or age can be treated; although a single treatment has produced very good results for many patients, it is quite common to have two or three treatments over a few months for optimal results. Realistic expectations are important to maintain. People with subtle jowl and neck laxity respond the best to the Titan laser lift. Patients with extreme laxity are still better served by traditional means of plastic surgery. Patients who have a great deal of fatty tissue can not expect to have the skin tighten in the neck or the back of the arms. Improvements in the abdominal area are also very exciting but must be tempered with the realization that stretch marks do not go away with this treatment.
With each Titan pulse you will feel a brief heating sensation. Immediately following the treatment, you may notice some redness and mild swelling in the treated area. Both should dissipate within a few hours. Facial skin tightening is noticeable immediately after the treatment, and there is no downtime, making this an increasingly popular procedure. Some patients with minimal degrees of laxity in the face and neck will see results immediately. However, for most patients with more laxity, the results are gradual and cumulative. Additional skin tightening occurs over the next few months, optimal results usually require two or three treatments about a month apart. You should not have treatment if you are pregnant or have been on Accutane within the past 3 months.
